The goals of the International Centre for the Advancement of Community Base Rehabilitation (ICACBR) are to (a) collaborate with local partners to enhance existing strengths and create new opportunities for people with disabilities to access and engage in the domains of health, education, livelihood, social, and empowerment; and (b) build the capacity of individuals, families and communities to effectively include people with disabilities in all aspects of daily life.

The ICACBR achieves these goals by:

  • Supporting local partners with policy analysis and development;
  • Using and disseminating CBR principles and processes, such as train-the-trainer programming, to educate future CBR practitioners to advance wellbeing in all domains of the CBR matrix; and
  • Conducting participatory research on issues of priority to people with disabilities, their families and community.
